The Getty Museum offers a variety of activities and programs that are great for kids, making it a family-friendly destination. Here are some ways children can engage with art and enjoy their visit:

At the Getty Center:
Family Room:
A dedicated space where children can explore art through hands-on activities like creating masks, building 3D art, and experimenting with textures and colors.
Art Detective Cards:
Kids can pick up these activity cards at the information desk, which encourage them to search for specific artworks and details throughout the museum, turning their visit into a treasure hunt.
Garden Exploration:
The Central Garden is a great place for children to wander and discover different plants, flowers, and water features. They can engage with the sensory experience of the garden's changing landscapes.
Family Art Stops:
Guided activities for families, where museum staff lead brief, interactive discussions about specific artworks. These are designed to help children and parents explore art in a fun, engaging way.
Photography Exhibits:
If your child enjoys photography, the Getty's photography exhibitions offer a chance to see world-class images and discuss storytelling through photos.
Picknicking:
Popular spots for picnics are the lawn next to the Central Garden and the terrace outside the Garden Terrace Cafe. Picnic tables, benches, and lawns can also be found at the Lower Tram Station.
Coolers or picnic boxes larger than 11 x 17 x 8 inches aren't allowed inside galleries.
